My name is Fuad Abdol Kader, and I’m the owner of Deco America, a family-operated concrete and masonry company based right here in Silver Spring, Maryland. I’ve been in the construction world for more than 30 years, and during that time I’ve worked with just about every part of a home — inside and out. But over the years, I discovered that my true strength, my passion, and the place where I could really make a difference was in concrete, stone, and masonry work.
Before starting my own company, I spent decades learning the trade the hard way: on jobsites, in trenches, mixing concrete by hand, repairing cracks, building patios, installing stone, and doing the kind of work that teaches you to respect every step of the process. You can’t hide mistakes in concrete. You can’t cover up shortcuts in masonry. The work speaks for itself — and that’s exactly why I fell in love with it.
When my family and I moved back to the United States, I made the decision to take everything I learned overseas and here in the U.S. and build something from the ground up. In 2013, Deco America was born. At the time, it wasn’t about building a big company. It was about supporting my family and giving homeowners a contractor they could count on — someone honest, skilled, and committed to doing the job right.
Starting over wasn’t easy. I had to overcome a language barrier. I had to learn new technology. I had to rebuild connections. But those challenges pushed me to work harder, learn faster, and stay focused on quality. Today, I’m proud to say that my sons work with me, and together we run Deco America as a true family business.
